Below are various parts crafted to make your restoration more successful. In each case, these were created because the original Honda part is either:

  • no longer available
  • inferior to the reproduction part
  • over-priced

I have personally used each of these items to turn out top quality restorations.

Honda GL1000 Reproduction Parts

GL1000 Battery Strap - Early Horizontal Style - Randakk Reproduction

Is your battery flopping around inside the battery box? Held in place by zip ties? This part is absolutely vital for a correct, proper restoration of any early Honda GL1000 GoldWing. The safety aspect of this item is quite obvious.

The original Honda part number for this item is: #50332-371-000. The Honda Parts system nomenclature calls this a "Band, Battery."

As of this writing, this part has been discontinued by Honda and has been unavailable for some time.

I have commissioned the manufacture of faithful reproductions of this part. These fit and function as new. The buckle "hooks" on each end of my strap are fabricated from 2.6 mm stainless steel wire stock which will never rust. The original had "hooks" of dubious quality which often rusted.

My strap also has an improved design in the shoulder radius sections that wrap around the edges of the battery for better strength. This was a common failure point in the OEM straps.

Note: This battery strap is only for early GL1000s which had horizontal battery straps. This includes all 1975 (K0), all 1976 LTD models and many 1976 (K1) models. However, some K1 models for non-North American markets had the later style vertical battery straps. Do not order if your GL1000 bike has a vertical battery strap. Instead, you need Randakk's GL1000 Battery Strap (Late Vertical Style)

Note: This strap may fit other brands and models of motorcycles but I can not verify this for you. Refer to the dimensions above.

GL1000 Battery Strap - Late Vertical Style - Randakk Reproduction

The original Honda part number for this item is: #95012-15001 (which supercedes #95012-15000). The Honda Parts system nomenclature calls this a "Band, Battery."

This part is often unavailable from Honda. The same part is used on a number of other Hondas including jet skis and power equipment.

GL1000 Top Shelter Hinge Bushing Set - Randakk Reproduction

The original Honda part number for this item is: #50425-371-000. The Honda Parts system nomenclature calls this a "Bush, Side Hinge." If you check the Honda price on these, you will be shocked to find that the list price is $27.37 EACH! Eight of these are required on each first generation GL1000 ('75-'77).

I've long lobbied Honda (without success) that their inventory system has a "typo" on this item. I'm convinced that long ago a decimal was slipped and never corrected. In any case, these are long obsolete at Honda at any price.

Out of necessity I have created these perfect reproductions. If you're restoring your bike to a high standard, you will definitely need a set of these. These are vital to keep the top shelter side doors in correct alignment. These fit and function as new.

Sold in full sets of 8 only. My price for all 8 is about what Honda wants for only 1 bushing!

GL1000 Front Turn Signal Wire "Keepers" - Randakk Reproduction

If you're doing a restoration to a high standard, you will need a set of these. They are long gone on most bikes I see. These keep your front turn signal wires correctly and safely routed through the bottom of of the headlight "ears."

The original Honda part number for this item is: #33421-371-000. The Honda Parts system nomenclature calls this a "Grommet, Winker Cord."

I have commissioned the manufacture of faithful reproductions of this part. These fit and function as new. They have been created using the latest injection molding techniques using superior, Santoprene synthetic rubber. Santoprene is a Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) which provides functional performance and properties similar to conventional thermoset rubber products, but can be processed with the speed, efficiency and production economy of thermoplastics. Santoprene is highly durable, resistant to fatigue, ozone, ultraviolet, acids, alkali, oils and lubricants.

Long obsolete by Honda, I have created perfect reproductions. If you're restoring your bike to a high standard, you definitely need a set of these. The originals were made of a very soft material and were quite easy to lose. Mine are quite a bit stiffer so they will stay put much better.

Easy 10 minute installation - these just snap into the headlight "ears." You will need to remove your headlight to disconnect the turn signal wires and re-route the wires though the keeper.

GL1000 Kick Start Lever Retention Strap - Randakk Reproduction

This part is absolutely vital for a correct, proper restoration of any 1975 - 1977 Honda GL1000 GoldWing. The original Honda part number for this item is: #50420-371-000. The Honda Parts system nomenclature calls this a "Band, Kick Arm Set."

One of the many unique features of the '75-'77 GL1000s was the removable kick start arm. The starters on GL1000s are very reliable (one reason Honda dropped the redundant kick-start lever in '78). However, these levers do work. They provide an extra margin of road-side breakdown insurance. Secure yours properly in the top shelter with this quality reproduction strap.

The Honda List price for this retention strap varies from $27.44 to $34.00 (US) depending on the greed factor of your local dealer. However, this part has been discontinued by Honda and has been unavailable for some time.

Many of the GL1000 bikes I see in my shop are missing this strap. Often they are replaced with zip ties, large o-rings, twist-ties, rubber bands, baling wire and other less than satisfactory solutions.

The originals weren't that durable and most have failed by now. If yours hasn't failed yet, it probably will soon.

GL1000 Swing Arm Pivot Caps - Randakk Reproduction

Here's another vital part necessary for a correct, proper restoration of any 1975-1977 Honda GL1000 GoldWing. The original Honda part number for this item is: #90303-371-000. The Honda parts system nomenclature calls this a "Cap, Lock Nut."

These cover the lock nut which secures and sets the pre-load on the swing arm pivot bolt. Each GL 1000 requires 2 of these...one for each side.

This part has been discontinued by Honda and has been unavailable for some time.

Many of the GL1000 bikes I see in my shop are missing these caps. The originals weren't that durable and many have failed by now. Often, careless mechanics will misplace them during service procedures. Sometimes a careless rider's boot will dislodge them. Sometimes the wind alone will cause them to fly off. If yours haven't failed or been lost yet, count yourself very lucky.

My version is correct for all early ('75-77) GL1000 which have "smooth" pivot bolt covers. These correspond perfectly to Honda part number is #90303-371-000. These have an inner perimeter "lip" as well as a central "prong" which mates to the socket head bolt recess of the pivot bolt for secure attachment.

Honda also made a later version of this part for '78-79 models which was "stepped" instead of smooth on the outside (Honda part # 90303-431-670). This later style was even less secure as it only had the inner retaining "lip" and a hex inner contour, but not the central "prong" of the earlier style cover. My reproduction covers will work in place of the later style covers fitted to '78-'79 GL1000s, but obviously mine lack the "stepped" outer surface.

For GL1000 graphics I recommend Keith Fletcher. Keith can supply exquisite reproductions of frame decals, pin-striping sets for the "tank, "radiator shrouds, side cover decals, etc. Keith can supply complete pin-stripe sets for the 75 and 76 GL1000's to match all available factory colors.

Keith can also supply pin-stripes sets for the black ‘77 models. He expects to have pinstripes for the red and blue '77 bikes soon. He may eventually add pin stripe sets for the ‘78 and ’79 GL1000s.
