Chain and Sprocket
The chain and sprocket setup is a way to transfer mechanical power using a roller chain that engages with the sprocket. Most common of this power transfer would be cam chain setups and drive chain setups. A cam chain transfers energy from the crankshaft to the camshaft. The drive chain transfers energy from the motor to the rear wheel. We carry many different options for chains, links, chain guards, sprockets, sprocket covers, adjustments, and more.
Your stock vintage motorcycle chain requires your faithful attention to work correctly when you need it. With proper lubrication (we have market leader PJ1’s Black Label chain lube) and tension, your chain will live a long and fruitful life. Eventually, though, your chain will stretch and your sprockets will wear out. When that day comes, look to us for your vintage drive chain and sprocket solutions.
We stock 530 and 630 XW-ring and O-ring chains from RK, and Our Z1 sprockets are a great replacement for your aging OEM Kawasaki sprockets. We also carry front and rear vintage motorcycle sprockets from Sunstar and Sprocket Specialists. Remember — Altering the stock tooth count from your vintage bike’s OEM specification can have a dramatic effect on its performance (less teeth = more low-end torque; more teeth = more high-end power). However, changing the front-sprocket tooth count will cause speedometer error that you must then correct.
