This circular aluminum disk is the carb "puck." You may see it referred to in some manuals as a passage plug, but don't confuse it with the rubber passage plug which covers the access to the idle fuel jet.

GL1000 Carb "Pucks"

This "puck" is a critical part about the size and shape of a large aspirin tablet and is located beneath the fuel bowl gasket in the main carb body. It's necessary to cover the access point used in the manufacturing process to create the by-pass transfer ports for the idle circuit.

During a carb rebuild, it's imperative that you remove these to clean the hidden idle circuit passages. Usually, compressed air applied through the idle mixture adjustment screw hole will pop them out (and cause them to fly across the garage!). Sometimes, they are really stuck and solvents are necessary (apply through the idle mixture adjustment screw hole ... We use an overnight treatment of PB Blaster). Occasionally, heat is necessary to free them. Sometimes they won't budge and it's necessary to remove them with brute force. In these cases, drill a small pilot hole and "install" a sheet metal screw into the puck to provide the purchase necessary to remove. Never reuse pucks that have been forcibly removed.

Unfortunately, the pucks have never been available from Honda (unless you buy a whole carb assembly!). We've always thought this a bit odd, since they appear on the original parts microfiche but are not listed as an available part. If you've lost or damaged these pucks and need replacements, you will need access to a stash of salvage parts or buy my new reproductions.

These have been made to very precise tolerances using CNC automated lathe equipment. Fit and function are equal to or better than the Honda OEM item.

Considerable skill is required to install these correctly. Since we can't control this important variable, there is no warranty with these. Rest assured that they are of the highest quality materials and workmanship.

Note: These do NOT fit GL1100 carbs. The pucks on GL1100 carbs are pressed in during manufacturing process. Do NOT try to remove pucks on GL1100 carbs!!!
