Despite what you've been told, that little 300lb gasoline-powered love machine of yours isn't giving you all she's got. If you're still running stock Keihin carbs that is. Don't get us wrong, we build plenty of bikes with them and they get the job done, but if you're after twist rip riot performance and simplicity there's simply no better solution for carburetion on these old bikes.
The two biggest advantages are pretty basic, but they make a huge difference when getting that pavement pounder tweaked and geeked for Friday night street brawls & weekend track visits. First and probably most important, is the fact that they're controlled by actual cables vs. vacuum created by cable movement.
One of the biggest problems with the Keihin carbs is slides stick and with these bad-boys, you can kiss that goodbye like that bump you got ointment for last month!
A couple of notes though.. These are the HIGH PERFORMANCE/RACE version of this kit. If you have not already modified your bike or plan on diving into that head in the near future, you may want to consider the VM30 kit.
These VM32's are perfect for track use and serious street performance, but not recommended for that vintage 350/360 you use to nip down to the shops on the weekend. In some cases, with certain model bikes, you do need to tweak a few things in order to get them to fit properly. For example, if the battery box has not been removed or relocated on the CB/CL360, the Pod Filters in this kit may not fit. You would need shorter filters or velocity stacks to clear the box.
On the other hand, if you are considering this High Performance/Race kit, you should be well on your way to removing that battery box already.
If you need new intake boots you can use either the stock replacement ones or the Mikuni specific ones, just note that the Mikuni specific ones will bring the carb closer to the head and you may need to make a 1/4" spacer for perfect fitment.
In addition, you may need to port the boots for smooth flow, they do however "fit" the mouth of carb better than the stock boots. In some cases you may also need to drill out the bolt holes slightly to allow for proper bolt alignment. And as for the cables, this kit contains a universal 2-into-1 cable that can be customized to your setup.
Just measure, cut, and solder the new fittings in place. You can also use stock/aftermarket cables, just measure, cut , and apply new drums/fittings and you are good to go!
If you have any questions, just drop us a line prior to your order and we'll make sure you get what you need!
For 350s & 360s without drastic engine modification: please see SKU#'s 001-247 & 001-249
Fitment on 360: motor may require different Pod Filters or Velocity Stacks if Battery Box has not been removed/relocated.
This kit may not comply with local emissions regulations and therefore may not be legal for Highway/Street use. Please check your local legislation for compliance.
