Stators and Rotors

If you have many electrical components on your bike, as most bikes have, such as ignition, lights, starters, fuel pumps or phone chargers, then a battery will need to charge it. Without a stator to keep the battery charged, the battery will be depleted very quickly. Most people refer to the stator as the stationary part of an alternator.

A stator and rotor both have electromagnets, but the patterns are opposite to repel on another. When the stators magnetic field rotates, the rotor moves along with it to generate, maintain and use a charge. It is vital that the stator provides the motorcycle with more power than it needs so the battery stays charged. When the bike consumes more power than the stator can produce, the battery will drain.
